Lights

The Bear loves to look at lights. He lives for lights. He reaches towards them, points them out to us, coos at them, talks to them, we are wondering if we have a future engineer on our hands. You may well imagine the excitement this season has given him. Each time we pass a lit home he shrieks and giggles, pointing in that frantic ecstatic baby way that is so endearing.
I have always loved Christmas, but this year I am seeing it from 30 inches off the ground and its SPECTACULAR.  Despite my cumbersome load of 33 weeks and counting, I have done my best to go all out with decorating our home and making special holiday visits and memories. Bear loves our tree. I spent hours threading popcorn and cranberries in hopes of filling out the empty branches since our current ornament collection consists of only 12 pieces. Whenever I have baking or canning to do, I wheel his pack and play over to the tree where he can sit and play for hours while admiring the lights. Yesterday we wandered over together and played with his manger scene. In a moment of tenderness, he reached over to me and we stretched out under the tree to look up at the lights. He cuddled against me and eventually fell asleep while enjoying his lights. He may not remember this first Christmas, but we always will.
